Its like aliens taking control your whole body, your mind.
Can’t hardly see the real person with drugs, him/her is not himself/herself. I don’t think they see you as you are anymore, they dont feel love and care anymore, all they care about is how to get himself/herself more drugs...
Some people managed to get the alien out of them and get a better life, some get a better life for a while before ending up getting really sick. Some just have the alien stuck in their body and mind and die with them... Can those people, the users choose which one? Can their family help them to choose?
You can help, guide and assist the person, make it easier for him/her to cope with this problem.

they can have self-will if they can see major benefit from it. you can help by being patient and being consistent in providing care. take them to get involved in a 'clean' environment to motivate them to lose the habit. while they are in drugs, although they have the right to choose for themselves, they are incompetent to make one. that's why family and close friends should be there as a support and to increase the awareness of their self-wills.
